Westport Linen Fire In Scott

SCOTT, LA - The Scott Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial fire at Westport Linen on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at 11:37 PM.

Firefighters observed heavy smoke coming from the building. Firefighters entered the structure and were able to quickly bring the fire under control before it spread throughout the building.

An investigation into the fire revealed that several pieces of linen were removed from a dryer and placed in a large bin earlier that night. The unattended linen ignited after smoldering for several hours.

Damage to the facility was confined to several bins of linen and two commercial linen presses. No firefighters or civilians were injured as a result of the fire.
